They are with us in the struggles, they are with us in our homes, they are with us in all the labouring which built our city and what we have today. But when we finally managed to get a bit of bread crumbs, i.e. the minimum wage legislation in Hong Kong, from the rich and powerful, their part was not in our concern and we just let it passed. People still thinks that they are they and we are us, c’os they are only the migrants workers. But is that all they are? And do we know who we are? I’d say, before they and we became us, we will not be able to know how the answer should be voiced.

花牌是怎樣紮成的

面對著以鋼鐵造成、冷血無情的現代推土機，紮作一面以紙張、布幔和竹枝組結而成的傳統花牌真的抵擋得了？

我們不知道。

但我們知道這傳統技藝支撐了深水埔的黃乃忠多年的生活與紮根。而這深紮的根支撐了乃忠兄近年，面對所向披靡的市區重建推土機，縱使忐忑仍緊咬牙關的奮戰。

縱使一路走來不無崎嶇、前路亦難 測，乃忠兄仍提著一口正氣，堅持為公義提出上訴，與推土市建對簿公堂，挑戰市建的不公不義。縱使乃忠兄提出的理據合情合理，而有關的裁判亦會對市區重建具 審視性以至指示性的作用。然而，推土市建卻就在這時刻以強橫之勢，動用公權，鐵定七月十三日把黃乃忠斬草除根、驅逐離場。

誠邀你參與七月十二及十三日的「花牌是怎樣紮成的」工作坊，了解乃忠兄的紮根技藝及參與組結一面足以屹立於橫掃我城的推土風雨前的花牌。縱使可能是乃忠兄的最後一面花牌，就讓我們與他一起把祂完成，亦把根傳承。

in this night of contemplation and celebration of our liberation, i’m saddened and angry.

i still can’t swallow the news when i received an sms this very afternoon that a dear friend was taken behind bars for standing up to resist police power.

it seems that there’s not a fucking thing i could do to get him out or stand with him, not mentioning securing justice for him in this fucked up judicial system.  therefore, i resort to my beloved music trying to sooth myself.  browsing through the web, i found loads of radical carols that are inspiring and touching.  putting bits and pieces together, i made a collage of them into the following and the recording linked below.

齊建真正的公民社會 不要超級警權廿三條

致各位真正公民社會的成員：

週日大遊行：　齊建真正的公民社會　　不要超級警權廿三條

言論和表達意見的自由，乃基本生活尊嚴的必要基礎之一。尤其當無權無勢的小市民遭到政府和大商家的欺侮，而又沒有任何途徑可以真正幫到他們解決問題時，除了上街，還有什麼方法去表達到自己的訴求？雖然，這一權利，在香港，是受到憲法保護的。然而，近年來，政府對香港異見人士有組織及有系統的打壓行動，動輒拘捕控訴的態度，已正在挑戰真正具有反對聲音的公民社會了！

由2006年底開始計，因為不滿政府施政妄顧基層權益及偏幫財團而被捕的人士，竟已超過七十人！！被捕人士之中，包括不同階層和職業的市民，有工人、公屋居民、文職人員、基層運動組織者、社工、大學老師、中學老師、文化藝術工作者、中學生、大學生、議員……

我們不禁想起了2003年 引起香港市民五十萬人大遊行的廿三條立法事件。當年因為市民的憤怒和積極反對，而推翻了立法。可惜，道高一呎，魔高一丈，除了公安惡法繼續為禍之外，政府 實踐了一連串比殖民政府更陰險的打壓異見的方式，包括：政治檢控基層運動工作者；拘禁請願人士以後在警署施以各種侮辱手段（包括無理脫光衣服搜身）；以各 種行政手段以掩飾打壓異見之實；雙重執法，放走支持政府的犯法者（如奧運聖火傳遞期間放走毆打為人權請願人士的紅衣人）；甚至建立一些假公民社會企圖取代 公民社會的聲音等等。可想而知…一直處於社會邊緣的弱勢社群，如性工作者、南亞華裔人士、新移民、甚至只不過衣不光鮮的草根市民，面對由上而下的濫權行為，簡單至連基本的工作權、社交權利被剝奪的例子，更加是恆河沙數。

面對這種種管治手段，我們必須堅持建立一個以無權勢者為基礎的公民社會，及抵抗威權政府通過警察來對我們進行不斷的侵蝕。這個星期，有許多積極締造公民社會的市民被審訊、被判刑；星期二，警方寫出了挑戰公民社會容忍度的新警察通例；星期三警監條例又在立法會三讀。這是一個特區政府向公民社會宣戰的一星期！我們邀請大家參與星期四晚與星期天的行動，表示對被捕朋友的支持，及對真正公民社會的堅持！

日期：2008年7月13日 集合地點：灣仔軍器廠街警察總部 集合時間：1:30pm

遊行路線：由警察總部遊行至遮打花園，之後會在遮打花園召開「公民社會再起動」討論會

（這一遊行路線展示我們離開權力中心，並走到象徵著尊重無權勢者的精神的遮打花園，因為這個公園曾成為無數維護民主、自由、人權的行動之聚集點。請注意：為抵抗公安惡法，此次行動將不會事先向警方申請。）

This video letter was made on July 21, 2006 at the studios of Beirut
DC, a film and cinema collective which runs the yearly Ayam Beirut Al
Cinema’iya Film Festival. This video letter was produced in
collaboration with Samidoun, a grassroots gathering of various
organizations and individuals who were involved in relief and media
efforts from the first day of the Israeli attack on Lebanon. It was
also broadcasted at the Biennial of Arab Cinema, organized by the Arab
World Institute in Paris.
這錄像信件由每年舉辦Ayam Beirut Al
Cinema’iya電影節的電影及放映協作集體於2006年7月21日在貝魯特的工作室拍攝制作而成。這錄像信件的制作獲得Samidoun的協力合作。Samidoun在以色列開始襲擊黎巴嫩時組成，它包含了多個參與於救援及媒體工作的組織或個人，實為一個草根的匯聚。這錄像信件亦曾在由阿拉伯世界學院於巴黎舉辦的阿拉伯電影雙年展中播放。

5 months after – 五個月之後

5 months after the struggle against WTO MC6 here at hong kong, life seems to have returned to normal.

but is this normal truly normal? after the liberation we experienced. after the understanding we’ve gained. what is this life that we’ve returned to? what have we brought with us from the struggle into this life from the other life.

then, we believed in the struggle and our solidarity. we put our heart and soul into the struggle and prayed that people united will never be defeated. now, what do we believed in. where do we rest our heart and soul and what do we pray for?………….

在香港的世貿抗爭後的五個月後的今天，生活似乎已回復正常。

但這個常態是否就是真正的正常呢？感受過解放的感覺之後。取得對週遭多一分理解之後。我們回到的這一個生活究竟是一個怎麼樣的一個生活呢？我們又從抗爭中帶著一些甚麼回到這一個生活裡呢？

當時，我們相信我們的連結及抗爭。我們全心全意投入於抗爭之中，更祈求我們的團結將可使大家不被擊潰。現在，我們相信的是甚麼？我們的心靈又歸於何處？我們又在祈求著甚麼？………….
