in this night of contemplation and celebration of our liberation, i’m saddened and angry.
i still can’t swallow the news when i received an sms this very afternoon that a dear friend was taken behind bars for standing up to resist police power.
it seems that there’s not a fucking thing i could do to get him out or stand with him, not mentioning securing justice for him in this fucked up judicial system. therefore, i resort to my beloved music trying to sooth myself. browsing through the web, i found loads of radical carols that are inspiring and touching. putting bits and pieces together, i made a collage of them into the following and the recording linked below.
www.smrc8a.org/narcissan/radicalsilentnight2008.mp3
and the lyrics goes:
silent night, peaceful night
we’ll survive through this fight
all your prisons, banks and walls
we will see to dismantle them all.
and live a life of true worth
live a life of true worth
silent night, peaceful night
look around, do what’s right
liberty is about more than just me
use your strength to help others to see
what true freedom can be
what true freedom can be
silent night, peaceful night
everyone, join the fight
fight for dignity, justice and peace
in your living and working place
everyone, open your eyes
rise up and organize! (for revolution!)
hope you’ll get it and spread it widely.
and in this night when we celebrate our liberation, let’s rise up and organise for a true revolution of the people
for true justice and in solidarity,
